Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
Construction lifts are the machinery used to enable workers to go to high-up locations without building any scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machinery found in factory and warehouse environment as well.
Boom lifts will normally provide powered and wheeled bases which could drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the workers. There are a lot of various types of lifts and each one is suitable to various tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks or cherry pickers, are built with a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where a worker may stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually utilize these machines to cut trees.
Each and every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, that enables these vehicles to move swiftly on normal roads. Also, this increases the area which this machinery can service efficiently. This is particularly important for power companies. For instance, many of these companies use cherry pickers to elevate workers up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be regularly checked and well insulated since they are working near possible shock hazards.
Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm that could bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and could turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Normally, the articulated boom lift is utilized for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already completed. Projects that do not need easy access right below the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas which are difficult to clean. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the extended boom.
