Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of customers and therefore, the name was established.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, since the demand for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, as the requirements for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into making articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Because of the economic slump during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy machines offered by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the advantages of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machinery are great for small areas or limited access areas in all types of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machines provide the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
