The forklift is an important piece of machine in most businesses which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling plants. This wonder machine, the lift truck is constructed of many components, such as the important carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have a variety of attachments also. The following are several of the most important lift truck components.
Engine of the Lift Truck - the lift truck is made with a power source at the rear of the equipment. Different types of forklift truck have different kinds of engine that require varying power sources. For example, a forklift with an IC engine can have any of the following as its source of power: CNG gas, LP gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the forklift components. This forms the equipment's core. All other parts of a lift truck are attached to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, mast, wheels and axles. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes connected to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck offers balance and may work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Some lift trucks have a cab area that is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are a lot of components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like the operator controls, steering wheel, pedals, seats, switches and levers. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
