Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
